Product overview of dried banana (Okinawa-grown island banana + overseas-grown)

A dried banana made by using, by purpose, the rare "island banana" grown at partner farms in Okinawa and stably suppliable overseas-grown bananas. Island bananas are small but feature a rich sweetness and acidity, with a special-feeling flavor as their appeal. Overseas-grown bananas, on the other hand, have a mellow sweetness and stable quality, making them suited to processed products.

Both are slowly dried at low temperature, using no sugar or additives at all, concentrating the ingredient's inherent flavor. As well as eating it as-is snack-style, it is ideal as a topping for confectionery and granola. We flexibly accommodate both commercial and OEM needs.

Dried banana: three points of commitment

01 Using Okinawa-grown island banana and overseas-grown by purpose

We offer two lines — the rare Okinawa-grown island banana and easily stably suppliable overseas-grown banana. A design where you can choose the raw material according to product concept — island banana for premium projects, overseas-grown for mass-production and general-purpose products.

02 Free of sugar, bleach, and additives

Without using sugars, bleach, or antioxidants, we make the most of banana's inherent natural sweetness and richness as-is. It is a raw material suited to confectionery and health-food brands with a simple-ingredient orientation.

03 Low-temperature drying that protects the rich sweetness

By driving off the moisture slowly at low temperature, it retains the dense, chewy sweetness and aroma characteristic of banana. You can select from round-slice and chip specifications to match the application.

Features of commercial dried banana

Okinawa-grown island banana

The rare island banana grown by partner farms in Okinawa features a fruity, rich balance of sweetness and acidity. It can be used as a raw material for premium gifts and limited-edition products.

Year-round supply of overseas-grown

Overseas-grown bananas from the Philippines and elsewhere can be supplied year-round. Because price and quality are stable, it can accommodate large-lot general-purpose products and continuous mass production.

Round-slice / chip shape

You can choose from two specifications, round slices and chips. It accommodates a wide range, from snack use eaten as-is to kneading into confectionery and cereal.

6-month room-temperature storage

With a room-temperature 6-month best-before date, a logistics design that does not rely on chilling or freezing is possible. Because it is easy to store, it also suits in-store rollout and inventory management for commercial kitchens.

Small-lot 100g support

Available from a minimum of 100 g, it accommodates prototyping by small-scale confectionery makers and individual cafés. The step up to a mass-production phase is also smooth.

Low-temperature drying that protects banana's sweetness and aroma

Banana is a fruit whose balance of moisture and sugar determines the dried finish. At Agriture, we adopt a method of drying slowly at low temperature, retaining the dense, chewy sweetness and aroma. Because it is an ingredient that produces sufficient sweetness even without adding sugar, it is a raw material easy to use for clean-label-oriented products as well.

💡 TIPS | Drying-processing trivia

Banana changes greatly in sugar content and aroma with ripeness. In dry processing, using "fully ripe banana with sugar spots starting to appear" makes the natural sweetness come alive to the maximum. After opening, sealing it and avoiding moisture keeps the chewiness and aroma lasting long.

Uses for commercial dried banana

Granola and cereal makers

As an ingredient for granola, muesli, protein bars, and energy bars. By making use of the natural sweetness, it can also contribute to designing health-oriented products with reduced sugar use.

Confectionery, baked goods, and snacks

As an ingredient for pound cake, muffins, nut mixes, and healthy snacks. By using Okinawa-grown island banana, you can plan premium-oriented gift products.

Smoothie and drink makers

As an ingredient for smoothie mixes and protein drinks, you can achieve both natural sweetness and nutritional supplementation. Combined with powder processing, it can also accommodate instant-drink products.

Baby food, weaning food

Because it is sugar-free and makes use of the ingredient's inherent sweetness, it is also being considered as an ingredient for baby food and treats for infants. Quality control and raw-material selection to match the application are needed.

OEM and regional products

Adoption is also possible for regional-brand products, hometown-tax-donation return gifts, and souvenir confectionery using Okinawa-grown island banana as the raw material. It suits product plans where you want to emphasize an origin story.

Origin information for Okinawa-grown and overseas-grown, respectively, will be specified and shared in the specification as needed.

Can you provide pesticide/analysis reports?

Partner farms' cultivation histories and necessary analysis results can be shared on a case-by-case basis. Especially when using island banana, please consult us on the specification in advance.

Are HACCP and export support possible?

We manufacture with a HACCP-compliant processing system, and can also accommodate raw-material supply for export-oriented products.

Please tell me how to proceed with an OEM consultation

Please let us know the application, quantity, and your island-banana/overseas-grown preference via the inquiry form. We propose consistently from sample provision through full production.

Medicinal-diet efficacy (in the case of raw banana)

What we introduce here is the medicinal-diet way of thinking regarding raw banana before dry processing. It does not guarantee the efficacy of the dried product itself; please use it as reference information for understanding the raw material's properties.

薬膳の考え方では、バナナは体の余分な熱を取り除き、腸を潤す働きがあるとされています。朝食やおやつに取り入れやすい果物として親しまれています。

💡 TIPS | Yakuzen trivia

Besides eating banana as-is, adding it to smoothies or pancakes brings out its natural sweetness. As a food said to moisten the intestines, it is considered suited as an ingredient for desserts and breakfasts in the dry season.

Dried banana is easy to make use of as a portable food you can eat as-is, and also suits designs that incorporate a medicinal-diet perspective into the product story.
