Novelty-market trends and the potential of dried vegetables

The shift to eco-conscious novelties

The novelties companies hand out are shifting from traditional stationery and plastic goods—ballpoint pens, clear folders—to eco-conscious products. As corporate SDGs declarations and sustainability reports become common, novelties too are increasingly expected to be “low-environmental-impact materials” and “products that help cut food loss.”

Dried-vegetable novelties fit this market shift perfectly. Made from non-standard vegetables and trimmings, dried-vegetable novelties directly contribute to food-loss reduction, aligning with SDG 12, “Responsible Consumption and Production.”

The strengths of food novelties

They're especially well received by health-conscious businesspeople and homemakers, and pair well with corporate messages of “health-focused management” and “wellness promotion.”

Proposals by use scene

Handouts at trade shows and business meetings

As a novelty to hand booth visitors at a trade show, small portion packs of dried vegetables have talk-worthy appeal. Because they stand apart from typical novelties, you can also expect a draw to your booth.

Product variations of dried-vegetable novelties

Vegetable soup kit

A one-serving kit pairing dried vegetables with a soup base. Just add hot water and a veggie-packed soup is ready, so it's appreciated by busy businesspeople. Combining several kinds of dried vegetables—cabbage, carrot, spinach—makes for a dish that's balanced in both color and nutrition.

Vegetable powder set

A set of powders made by grinding dried vegetables. Usable for a wide range—smoothies, yogurt, baking, baby food, kneading into bread dough—so it's especially popular with cooking enthusiasts and the child-rearing generation.Spinach powderCarrot powder, pumpkin powder, purple-sweet-potato powder, and other beautifully colored lineups are popular. For details on the powder type, see thevegetable powder page.

Ochazuke and furikake set

A set packaged as furikake made from finely chopped dried vegetables, or as an ochazuke mix. Rooted in Japanese food culture, it's accepted without hesitation even by older recipients. Dried radish leaf, komatsuna, and shiso are especially popular.

Colorful vegetable chips

Chips you can eat snack-style with the dried vegetables as-is. The colorful look—red tomato, purple sweet potato, green spinach, orange carrot—is Instagram-worthy. As a health-conscious snack, it appeals to younger people too. Individually wrapped, they're easy to hand out, ideal as a give-away novelty at trade shows.

The flow of implementation (5 steps)

Step 1: Planning / interview

First, we hear out the novelty's purpose, distribution scene, target, budget, and quantity. We propose the best product and makeup to match your brand image and the message you want to convey.

Step 2: Sample creation / tasting

Based on the proposal, we create a sample for you to actually taste. We confirm the taste, texture, look, and packaging size, and adjust as needed.

Step 3: Design / packaging production

We produce original packaging reflecting your company logo, message, and colors. Designs suited to the use are possible—mounts, sleeves, stickers, noshi wrapping. The packaging material, too, can be chosen to fit your image—paper, kraft paper, clear bags, and more.

Step 4: Manufacturing / inspection

After the design is finalized, we manufacture, package, and inspect the dried vegetables. Because production is at our own HACCP-compliant Kyoto plant, quality control gives peace of mind.

Step 5: Delivery

We deliver to the specified location. We support nationwide shipping, and direct delivery to event venues is possible.

Colorful dried vegetables for a special feel matched to the giving scene

Dried-vegetable gifts that convey feelings through color

Drawing on the vivid colors vegetables carry, dried vegetables can be given like a bouquet of flowers. Red and pink dried tomato and radish express gratitude; green spinach and Fushimi pepper carry wishes for health. Combining red-and-white dried vegetables also suits auspicious scenes such as weddings and housewarmings.

The added value of the Kyoto-vegetable brand

Agriture's dried vegetables are manufactured in Kyoto, and we also offer a product lineup using Kyoto vegetables. The “Kyoto” brand adds refinement and a special feel to a gift. Novelties using vegetables unique to Kyoto—Kyoto'sFushimi togarashiKujo green onionShogoin daikonand others—are effective for differentiation from competitors.

Affinity with SDGs and food-loss reduction

Show off your SDGs efforts through novelties

Dried-vegetable novelties also work as a tool to “make visible” a company's SDGs activity. Because non-standard vegetables that can't be shipped and trimmings from processing can be used in making dried vegetables, they contribute directly to food-loss reduction.

Adding a message to the novelty packaging—like “This novelty uses non-standard vegetables” or “A product that helps cut food loss”—lets you convey your company's environmental efforts to the recipient.

Related SDG targets

  • Goal 2 "Zero Hunger": effective use of food resources by reducing food waste
  • Goal 12 "Responsible Consumption and Production": food-loss reduction through the use of non-standard vegetables
  • Goal 13 "Climate Action": reducing CO2 emissions associated with food disposal
  • SDG 15, “Life on Land”: reducing environmental burden through the effective use of agricultural produce

Through novelties, you can build up a track record usable in your sustainability report and CSR report. Adding SDG-related icons to the novelty mount or leaflet also creates an awareness-raising effect for the recipient.

FAQ

From how many bags can we order at minimum?

The minimum lot is from 100 bags. We support small-scale events and trial adoption too. For larger quantities, you can also gain economies of scale with a bulk order of 1,000 bags or more. First, let us know your desired quantity.

How long does it take from planning to delivery?

From the start of planning to delivery, the guide is about 6–10 weeks. The breakdown is 1–2 weeks for planning/interview, 1–2 weeks for sample creation, 1–2 weeks for design production, and 2–3 weeks for manufacturing/inspection. We recommend consulting on a schedule worked backward from your event date.

Can we put a company logo or message on the packaging?

Yes. You can print a company logo, event name, message of gratitude, and more on the packaging. For small lots, original stickers or sleeves are also possible. If you don't have design data, we take design consultations too.

Can you accommodate allergies?

The dried vegetables themselves use only vegetables, so they contain no specified raw materials (wheat, milk, egg, etc.). However, for set products like soup kits, allergens may be present in the soup base. If allergy accommodation is needed, please consult us in advance. We provide an ingredient list and composition table.

How long is the best-before date?

The best-before date of dried vegetables is 6 months to a year from manufacture. Because they store at room temperature, you won't struggle for storage space until the event. Even for events where distribution is well ahead—trade shows, seminars—you can prepare with peace of mind. Please store away from direct sunlight, high temperature, and humidity.

Can it be used for internal reporting as an SDGs effort?

Adopting dried-vegetable novelties can be recorded in your sustainability report and CSR report as an effort aligning with SDG 12, “Responsible Consumption and Production.” We can also provide numerical data such as the amount of non-standard vegetables used and food loss reduced, so please use it for reporting internally and externally.
