CEO Kojima appeared on KBS Kyoto's "Taniguchi Ruru"

Summary of this article
Agriture representative Kojima appeared on KBS Kyoto's "Taniguchi Ruru." On the program, Kojima spoke about his career as the producer of OYAOYA, how his move to Fukuchiyama during the COVID-19 pandemic led him to dried vegetables, product development through a partnership with Etie Nosan in Kyotango, and the brand's launch in March 2021.

The producer of "OYAOYA," a brand that sells dried vegetables made from carefully chosen Kyoto-grown vegetables. Working to reduce food waste with dried vegetables at the core. Because his grandmother kept a home garden, he was a boy who liked vegetables more than meat or fish from childhood. At university, he majored in geography in Ritsumeikan's Faculty of Letters, studying regional revitalization tied to agriculture. During his university years, seeing his grandmother develop diabetes and go on a restricted diet firsthand made him think about the importance of food.

What led him to dried vegetables was moving to Fukuchiyama when university was closed during the COVID-19 pandemic. He received lots of off-spec vegetables from a farmer he knew and was astonished at just how many vegetables get thrown away. From that experience, he thought that using long-keeping dried vegetables might solve the food-loss problem. He partnered with the agricultural corporation "Etie Nosan" in Kyotango to develop products, launched "OYAOYA," and began sales in March 2021. He wants to continue the business while maintaining a win-win relationship for everyone — farmers, consumers, and sellers alike.
