OYAOYA dried vegetables adopted | Selected for the second round of Nippon Paper Crecia's "Action for Smile Campaign"

In the second round of Nippon Paper Crecia Co., Ltd.'s "Action for Smile Campaign," running since May 2025, products from "OYAOYA," the dried vegetable brand we operate, were adopted as gift prizes.

This campaign uses used tissue boxes and toilet-paper cores as entry materials, and is run with the aim of realizing a sustainable society. The OYAOYA dried vegetable set was selected as a "sustainable prize" that resonates with that philosophy.

Details of the adoption

Adopted as the prize for the second round (July–August 2025) was the OYAOYA 8-variety dried vegetable set. Made by upcycling off-spec vegetables from Kyoto into dried vegetables that can be enjoyed regardless of season, it comprises the following 8 items.

  • Dried tomato
  • Dried onion
  • Dried cucumber
  • Dried beetroot
  • Dried kabocha squash
  • Dried Kyo-kurenai carrot
  • Dried Shogoin daikon
  • Dried Manganji pepper

* Net weight: 15–20g each (shipped at room temperature)

OYAOYA dried vegetables all use Kyoto-grown vegetables, made to draw on the richness of their taste, aroma, and color. Drying raises their shelf life, and it also makes good use of vegetables that could not be distributed as off-spec.

Paper, and vegetables too. Beyond the point of finishing use

This campaign builds a cycle that collects "paper that becomes garbage if thrown away," such as tissue boxes and cores, from across the country and regenerates it as a resource. In the same way, OYAOYA reinvents off-spec vegetables that could not reach market for being "uneven in shape or size" into valuable food through the technique of drying.

What they share isthe idea of "making use rather than throwing away", contained in burdock and cocoa.

The campaign plans to report, from April 2026 onward, how the "paper" that consumers sent in was recycled. OYAOYA dried vegetables, too, deliver vegetables once discarded at farms to consumers in a new form.
