What is rolling stock?

Rolling stock is a method of keeping a slightly larger stock of everyday foods, consuming the oldest first while watching best-before dates, and restocking what you use—so a household always keeps a set amount of food on hand.

Beyond storing it as emergency food, it's a comfortable disaster-preparedness practice that lets you use it day to day while being ready for a disaster, and it's promoted by the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries.
